“2012″ Sound for Film Video Profile from Michael Coleman on Vimeo.
SoundWorks Collection strikes again with new film sound profile, this time for “2012″ and a really nice talk with re-recording mixers Michael Keller and Jeff Haboush. In this video you can see how the sound team approached the sound design and mix for such scenes as the destruction of Los Angeles, the eruption of Yellowstone national park, and watch the Vatican crumble into oblivion.
Nice video about the sound of “Army of Two: The 40th Day” of EA Games Montreal. You can see composer Tyler Bates talking about the music and Lewis James talking about the sound design and the weapons sounds.
Cacophony Sound Machines
Cacophony sound machines of Japanese bizarre machine artist Nobumichi Tosa. I can’t find words to define this. You should watch the following video instead.
The world’s most important 6-sec Drum Loop
This fascinating, brilliant 20-minute video narrates the history of the “Amen Break,” a six-second drum sample from the b-side of a chart-topping single from 1969.
This sample was used extensively in early hiphop and sample-based music, and became the basis for drum-and-bass and jungle music a six-second clip that spawned several entire subcultures.
Nate Harrison’s 2004 video is a meditation on the ownership of culture, the nature of art and creativity, and the history of a remarkable music clip.
